Who here hasn’t had to deal with dark under eyes that makes your overall appearance look tired and dull? There are many different reasons that cause these darkened under eye bags – from lack of sleep and fatigue to a deficiency of nutrients and hormonal changes. Your dark circles could be the result of multiple variable factors. However, getting rid of them doesn’t have to be as complicated.

Here are a few simple ways you can get rid of those pesky under eye circles at home!

  1. Cold tea bags

Tea bags are a great and simple way to reduce dark circles and puffiness. For this, place two tea bags in some water and allow them to steep. Place your water and tea bags in the refrigerator, so that it cools. After 10 to 15 minutes, remove the tea bags and squeeze out the excess tea and place the bags on your eyes for around 10 minutes. As most tea bags include antioxidants with anti-inflammatory properties, it will help to brighten your under eye area.

  2. Aloe vera gel

Aloe vera gel is a natural moisturizer and can work wonders to hydrate your under eye area. For this, you can use the aloe vera gel directly and massage it gently around your eyes. Let it sit for 10 – 15 minutes, and wash with cool water.

  3. Potatoes

Vitamin C, amply found in potatoes, helps to create a healthier looking skin. To use it to reduce dark circles, simply grate a raw potato and then strain the juices from it. Use a cotton pad to apply this juice on your dark circles, and leave the same cotton pad on the affected area for 10 minutes. After this, wash the area with cool water.

  4. Rosewater

Rosewater is a great way of refreshing your skin. As it’s a mild astringent, it can also be used as a natural toner. For reducing dark circles, soak two cotton balls in rose water and then place them over your eyes for 10-15 minutes. This will help to cool and relax the area around your eyes, thereby leading to reduced dark circles.

  5. Lemons

Lemons are rich in vitamin C and have skin lightening properties! Apply a bit of lemon juice under your eye with a cotton pad. Leave this on for 10 minutes and rinse with cold water. The antioxidants in the lemon will help to brighten the area around your eye and reduce the pigmentation.

Apart from our home remedies, a great way to reduce dark circles is to find pockets of time in your busy schedule to relax and breathe. Practicing 10 minutes of exercise and meditation every day will also help with the cause and contribute to a healthy looking skin in the long run.
